In an ideal world full of blue skies and fluffy white clouds, we could just send you a disk with the software on it and hey presto, you’d have a new planning process and system ready to fly!

Alas, as is so often the case, the reality is a little more challenging than that.  It’s usually as a result of a few factors:

  • Uniqueness. Most retailers do things that make them unique; some will plan using retail accounting, some will be cost accounting. Within this, some plan sales at full price vs reduced price, some just net sales, etc.  We could just include every possible permutation, but then the system would be unworkable!
  • Process Change. In many cases a new solution is supporting a new way or working, or planning to new levels of detail.  In either case, changing the way people work takes support to get right.
  • Integration. It would be infinitely easier if all retailers operated the same merchandise management systems with the exact same configuration, however this isn’t quite the case.  So in every client we work with, we have to adapt our integration routines make sure that we are collecting and providing the data in the right way for the planners’ needs

So to deal with all of these complexities, we have developed a careful and considered approach to implementation and support that ensures that the new solution is right for each business.  We also take the time to make sure that the new process is fully embedded in the business and that the company truly receives the benefits from their investment.

So you see, it’s not quite an ideal world, but there’s a lot of thought and effort been put into trying to make it an easier and more profitable life, which is a nice start.
